This is a superb chart by an outstanding arranger, Alan Baylock. We Three Kings of Orient Are is your first choice for holiday jazz---hip, contemporary, and swinging all the way. The band will dig into the independent lines and big ensemble sound all built around the melody stated by five horns. Alan provides ample solo space for tenor sax, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, drums, and baritone sax and the brass ranges are modest. A powerful treatment of a traditional holiday favorite, this is first class writing. Highly recommended!

Publications selected the six patriotic songs in this Jazz Superset #5 to provide music for the jazz ensemble that is accessible and suitable for a variety of occasions, tempos and styles. Arranger Mike Lewis has paid special attention not only to musical details, bult also to the jazz style of each of these patriotic songs. Although jazz harmonies and stylistic considerations are incorporated into these arrangements, each melody maintains its original integrity.
