Gratitude - Patty Darling - Medium (SMP-1254) - $55.00
Sierra Music is pleased to present yet another wonderful, contemporary composition by Patty Darling. She has provided us with many publications ranging from our “Easy-to-Play” series to the “Radiohead Jazz Project”. This new piece from Patty is a slow swing in 3/4 with elements of sparsity and transcendence throughout along with an abundance of solo space for flugelhorn that really intensifies this sentiment. “Gratitude” is the perfect contrasting piece for your program to add that element of variety every band and audience needs. Roundabout - Rich DeRosa - Medium-Adv. (SMP-1272) - $60.00
This wonderful piece, written by Rich DeRosa, was recorded on “Lab 2017” by the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band. This “loose” swinger features a tenor/bass duet melody, beautiful contrapuntal lines that weave into lovely tutti passages. Each horn section has its shining moments, making for a very enjoyable playing experience for your band with reasonable brass ranges. And when the piece really gets swingin’ during the bass and tenor saxophone solo sections, your audience will love it. (5-5-5-4)

Can you say “trip-uh-let”? This fun, down home swingin’ chart was recorded by the Les Hooper Big Band on “Dorian Blue”. This new straight-eighth note composition from Bill Holman provides plenty of variety in its modulation from 3/4 to 4/4 time signatures and intermittent swing sections. Woodwind doubles in the saxophone section and flugelhorn doubles in the trumpet section make for an interesting variety of colors and textures.
