 Radiohead performed “15 Step” in 5/4 on the 2007 CD In Rainbows, and arranger Matt Harris has transformed the original meter into a series of infectious grooves in 11, 3, 5, and 7.  Radiohead released “2+2=5” on their sixth album Hail to the Thief in 2003.  This is one of the most creative, important big band compositions ever written by anyone! It is also a chart which has been in demand for many years.

As recorded on the brilliant recording "A Dream Deferred" (Flying Dutchman CYL2-1449), by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra.  This arrangement by Bob Curnow is based on Johnny Richards' original composition written for the Stan Kenton Orchestra, which was part of the "Adventures In Time" album.  This is one happy chart!  It starts with the trombones laying down a nifty bass line, and then a great groove with a calypso pattern.

 As commissioned (and recorded) by the SWR Big Band of Stuttgart, Germany, this chart is another superb Curnow arrangement of the music created by the Pat Metheny Group. Written with the younger band in mind, this fun, easy-to-play chart can be performed as written or used as a tool to reinforce ear training and improvising. There is ample solo space for alto saxophone, trumpet, and guitar and can be played with a swing or hip hop feel. The reasonable brass ranges and flexibility of this chart make it a must have for the younger band! (5-4-4-4) Bob Curnow has written some marvelous arrangements of Metheny/Mays music in the past, and this chart will surely "tug at your heartstrings.
Adeste Fideles - arr. Rich DeRosa Adeste Fideles - arr. Stan Kenton After You've Gone (for Woody Herman) - arr. Bill Holman
   Arranged for the WDR Big Band (Germany), Richard DeRosa has written a beautiful masterpiece on this traditional Christmas favorite. Scored as a brass and horn chorale, this moving piece is filled with fluid cantabile lines, engaging counterpoint, lush harmonies and gorgeous ensemble climaxes.  The 1961 Capitol Records recording of Christmas music was a smash hit for Kenton.  Holman has done a few arrangements of this tune, and this one may well be the best.

 Lennie Niehaus wrote a series of terrific arrangements for the Stan Kenton Orchestra (this was recorded on the "Stage Door Swings" CD).  Radiohead recorded “All I Need” on their album In Rainbows in 2007.  This chart is from the I REMEMBER BILL - a tribute to Bill Evans  CD arranged and conducted by Don Sebesky!
