Arranged for the WDR Big Band (Germany), Richard DeRosa has written a beautiful masterpiece on this traditional Christmas favorite. Scored as a brass and horn chorale, this moving piece is filled with fluid cantabile lines, engaging counterpoint, lush harmonies and gorgeous ensemble climaxes. Rich DeRosa continues to amaze us with his clever arrangements of traditional Christmas songs. This time, he has incorporated this Christmas favorite with a Wayne Shorter style/ feel, and the result is nothing short of spectacular! Rich DeRosa wrote this magnificent piece as a tribute to Bob Curnow. The piece moves from a celebratory feast of sound into a contemporary fusion feel, a guitar solo, more wonderful ensemble writing and ends with an amazing splash of the best big band writing you’ll find anywhere, anytime. 5-5-5-4.

Rich DeRosa has created a marvelous Latin composition in a baião feel that is recorded by the North Texas Two O'Clock Lab Band. It comes out of the gate roaring. The very hip melody is stated by flute, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, trumpet and piano.  Set as a bright swing, and originally arranged for the WDR Big Band (Germany), Richard DeRosa's arrangement of the traditional Christmas carol "Angels We Have Heard On High" is an adventure from beginning to end!   "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" is a light, happy, easy-swing chart that is playable by most any band.

This wonderful piece, written by Rich DeRosa, was recorded on “Lab 2017” by the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band. This “loose” swinger features a tenor/bass duet melody, beautiful contrapuntal lines that weave into lovely tutti passages. Each horn section has its shining moments, making for a very enjoyable playing experience for your band with reasonable brass ranges. And when the piece really gets swingin’ during the bass and tenor saxophone solo sections, your audience will love it. (5-5-5-4)

Hear The Music! See The Music!

Rich gives us a wonderful, swinging samba featuring tenor sax and trombone. What a great, refreshing take on the big band samba this is. Moderate ranges for all makes this a very accessible chart for most bands, although this requires a rhythm section that can cook together and drive this chart. Sierra Music is very proud to publish this one. 5-4-4-4 $65.00
