 Radiohead performed “15 Step” in 5/4 on the 2007 CD In Rainbows, and arranger Matt Harris has transformed the original meter into a series of infectious grooves in 11, 3, 5, and 7.  Radiohead released “2+2=5” on their sixth album Hail to the Thief in 2003.  This is one of the most creative, important big band compositions ever written by anyone! It is also a chart which has been in demand for many years.

As recorded on the brilliant recording "A Dream Deferred" (Flying Dutchman CYL2-1449), by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra.  This arrangement by Bob Curnow is based on Johnny Richards' original composition written for the Stan Kenton Orchestra, which was part of the "Adventures In Time" album.  As commissioned (and recorded) by the SWR Big Band of Stuttgart, Germany, this chart is another superb Curnow arrangement of the music created by the Pat Metheny Group.

Written with the younger band in mind, this fun, easy-to-play chart can be performed as written or used as a tool to reinforce ear training and improvising. There is ample solo space for alto saxophone, trumpet, and guitar and can be played with a swing or hip hop feel. The reasonable brass ranges and flexibility of this chart make it a must have for the younger band!
