Frank Rosolino's jazz waltz is loved by all, and Holman's arrangement of it is superb.  This wonderfully tasteful jazz waltz has been featured at the Playboy Jazz Festival, performed by many All-State Jazz Ensembles, and is played regularly by the U.  Exactly as recorded on the View From the Side CD, this wonderful chart was written for Pete Christlieb to be featured on tenor saxophone.

This is a very fresh sounding, interesting and fun piece .  This chart is a blast!  It is one of the more popular charts from Maynard's Birdland Dream Band.  Finally, Slide Hampton's incredible music is in print.
Norwegian Wood Pretty Little Nieda - Rolf Ericson / arr. Don Sebesky Take the "A" Train - arr. Bill Holman
Norwegian Wood
Retail Price: $60.00
This is the real thing, as written for and recorded by the Buddy Rich Band on the Big Swing Face CD.    As recorded by the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra (and included in the Mosaic CDs The Complete Roulette Recordings of the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra), this is one of those charts that escaped notice for many, many years. Don Sebesky, one of the world's premier arrangers, took a magnificant Rolf Ericson tune and created an arrangement unlike anything you've heard before.  As recorded on "Tonight Show Band, Vol.
Tennessee Waltz - arr. Bill Holman Vortex (Endless Winter) - Patty Darling Waltz for Another Debbie - Les Hooper
This chart is a sensational version of the old standard, all dressed up with a new look only Holman could create.    Vortex is "...the freshest, most innovative, hippest, intelligent, and artistic writing for large jazz ensemble that Iíve witnessed in years" - Fred Sturm. Patty has once again created a highly original composition that explores the wonderful sonorities of the big band.  This is a lovely, straight-eighth waltz that starts simply and quietly with the rhythm section.
Waltz for Debby - arr. Don Sebesky Waltz of the Prophets - Dee Barton
This chart is from the I REMEMBER BILL - a tribute to Bill Evans  CD arranged and conducted by Don Sebesky! All of these incredible pieces require a mature band, soloists and woodwind doublers.  There are quite a few charts in the Kenton Library that stand out because of their extreme originality.
