As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, “Berlin Bei Nacht” is the 4th movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. Set in an up-tempo fashion, this Oliver Nelson’s 1971 forward-thinking original starts out with an in-your-face swing unison line played by the saxophones and the trumpets, with the trombones and rhythm section providing the undercurrent. It then moves into a half-time Latin feel before settling into a funk/rock blues solo section (trumpet, or as you choose). This exciting and unique arrangement will be a favorite for your band and audiences alike! 5-4-4-3 (opt. 5th trombone)
