Composed by James Pankow & Robert Lamm and arranged by our very own Bob Curnow, Chicago III Suite is just over 14 minutes of intense, high energy, and complexing music inspired by the windy city. It features a lush and fierce chorale to open, leading to a driving rock shuffle with various halftime choruses. It then leads to a pondering and delicate flute soli. It also features an angst-driven solo section for two trombones over top of a steady rhythm section groove. The middle section is a rock ballad in which the flutes make a reappearance, aided by a solo flugel horn. An intense, yet free drum solo closes this section and slowly reintroduces time to a building rock shuffle once more that features that baritone sax and trumpet. The suite ends with grandiose and rich chords across the ensemble over top of a medium jazz waltz. Your audience will be absolutely blown away by this monster of a chart!
