Crunch is yet another brilliant original in the growing, much-admired catalog of Patty Darling. It is set in a somewhat laid-back swing feel with solos space for trumpet, baritone saxophone, trombone and bass. Patty wrote this with younger bands in mind, but the chart is a very hip journey through Patty’s fertile mind. Starting with quiet thoughts and building to the first solo, Patty takes her cool melodies and harmonies through the paces and ends with a strong statement with full band.
