This new composition is dedicated to John Harmon, an extraordinary Wisconsin-based composer, arranger, and educator. John was one of the early pioneers of the Lawrence jazz studies program in the 1970s, as well as the founder of the internationally acclaimed jazz fusion group “Matrix”. His music has been a staple in Wisconsin for over 60 years, and through his artistry and guidance, he has built a beautiful, lasting foundation for our jazz community.
Solos aren’t limited to flugelhorn/trumpet—tenor sax, piano, or guitar can take them too. There are some interesting and challenging chord progressions--learn and work on these new chord/ scale relationships to add more color to your solos! 5-5-4-4
